Admission to BSN--Traditional Track

Bachelor of Science in Nursing--Traditional Track

Admission to BMCU Traditional BSN is competitive based on GPA and ACT. Applicants should:

  • Submit application to BMCU Enrollment Services and to the School of Nursing. (Current Blue Mountain Christian University students will not have to apply to Enrollment Services).
  •  Submit official transcripts of all college work (current Blue Mountain Christian University students will have transcripts on file).
  • Applicants must have minimum GPA of 2.5 and ACT Score of 21 or higher OR a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with ACT Score of 18-20
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C prior to enrolling in nursing courses.
    • All prerequisites must have a minimum grade of C in the most recent attempt
    • A&P I &II, Microbiology, and Pathophysiology may only be repeated once.
    • After the second failure to earn a “C” or better in a physical or biological science course, the student is ineligible for admission to the program.
    • There is a 5-year limit on science and biological courses.
    • Cumulative GPA is calculated based on all courses attempted
  • Submit ACT composite score meeting the above requirements based on GPA

If offered admission to the BMCU Traditional BSN track, the following items must be completed prior to beginning the program.

  • Submit proof of health and auto insurance and have access to reliable transportation to clinical sites
  • Provide proof of vaccinations as required by clinical contracts.
    • Varicella x2 (or titer), Hepatitis B x3 (or titer), COVID, Tdap (tetanus within 10 years), and seasonal influenza (required annually by October 1) - subject to change per clinical contract
  • Gain cleared criminal background check with fingerprinting and clean drug screen prior to beginning class. While in the program, students must have a clean drug screen prior to each term.
  • Obtain acceptable physical exam annually
  • Provide proof of TB clearance annually (QuantiFERON TB Gold annually, or chest x-ray)
  • Earn healthcare provider CPR certification – arranged by the program
  • Maintain malpractice insurance – arranged by the program
