Requirements for Admission of International Students

Application. A completed application for admission should be submitted in sufficient time for processing prior to the first day of class.

Official Transcript(s). Official copies of all studies in each school attended, beginning with secondary school are required. These records should include all mark sheets, diplomas, and certificates issued during that time.  They should also include an English translation and should be mailed directly from the institutions issuing the transcripts. These transcripts must be provided prior to admission to Blue Mountain Christian University.

Transcripts from Institutions Located Outside the United States - The applicant must request a COURSE BY COURSE REPORT from an educational evaluating agency. The applicant should contact the Office of Admissions for a list of acceptable agencies.

Transcripts from Institutions Located Within the United States - Transcripts from institutions located in the United States must be mailed from these institutions directly to the Office of Admissions at Blue Mountain Christian University.

Standardized Test Scores. Satisfactory standardized English proficiency test scores must be submitted prior to admission to Blue Mountain Christian University. The applicant should contact the Office of Admissions for a list of acceptable English proficiency examinations. International undergraduate students admitted to Blue Mountain Christian University must demonstrate English language proficiency to register for academic courses. Any one of the following scores are acceptable to demonstrate English language proficiency.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum score of 6.5.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):76-80.
  • English portion of the ACT: minimum 19.
  • SAT: 1020 (combined reading and math) or 1100 (combined evidence-based reading and writing).
  • Duolingo – 105-110

University Housing Requirements. All international students are required to live in campus housing unless the student meets the requirements for living off-campus detailed in Policy 4.14 Residential Life and Campus Housing Requirements. Applicants for University housing must submit a completed room application accompanied by a room deposit prior to admission to the University. The deposit serves as a damage deposit and is refundable, less any charges for damages, upon the student’s written request within two weeks of having vacated University housing. Additional Residence Needs. There are approximately 60 days in the calendar year (vacations and semester breaks) for which residence halls are closed, requiring students to find alternative housing at their own expense. Adequate Financial Support. An affidavit of financial support that indicates adequate financial support and the source(s) of such support for year(s) of study at Blue Mountain Christian University is required.

There is no federal financial aid for international students.

Insurance Policy. Prior to receiving the I-20, international students must provide evidence documented in English of an insurance policy which provides medical, medical evacuation, and repatriation coverage.If no insurance policy is submitted by the student, the student must purchase insurance through the University prior to arriving on campus.

F-1 International students are required to maintain health insurance coverage through the period of their program.  This insurance must cover healthcare and other unexpected expenditures, including the following:

  • Medical benefits of at least $50,000 per accident or illness.
  • Expenses associated with medical evacuation of the student to his or her home country in the amount of $10,000.
  • Repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500.
  • Other non-health related emergency evacuations (political unrest, natural disaster, etc.)

Immunizations. Applicants should submit Mumps, Measles, and Rubella Immunization Certificate and be tested for Tuberculosis. 

Student Visa. Blue Mountain Christian University is authorized to admit international students on the F‑1 (Student Visa). The Student Visa is issued by the U.S. Department of State on the basis of a completed I‑20 Form issued by Blue Mountain Christian University upon the formal admission of the student to the University. Each international student is required to have an I‑20 Form before being allowed to register for classes.

 

All International students must be degree seeking.
