Mathematics, Bachelor of Science in Education
The program is designed to prepare students to become teachers of mathematics in high schools or middle schools. Students receive a broad, well-rounded foundation in the field and instruction in educational pedagogy, classroom management, learning theory, and assessment.
Requirements
Education-Psychology Courses
EDU 216-EDU 217 not required for students who have an ACT/SAT exemption.
Major requirements
Students who lack a strong background in algebra & trigonometry will need to begin with MAT 110 & MAT 111, which will not count as credit toward the major in mathematics.
Professional Education Courses
These courses require prior admission to Teacher Education.
Professional Semester
This course requires prior admission to Teacher Education and
taking of the required Mississippi Licensure Examinations.

Supplemental Mathematics Endorsement
Students may receive a Bachelor of Science in Education in any area and may choose to add a supplemental endorsement in mathematics. To do so, students must complete the following 21 hours.
Mathematics Supplemental Endorsement (21 hours)
This endorsement is available for grades 7-12 and requires a grade of "C" or higher.
